MUST MAKE HUMMUS
Finding a garlic-free hummus would be like finding a unicorn, I've never seen one at a restaurant or in a store. There may be “sweet” hummus varieties made without garlic, but hummus isn’t meant to be sweet. Truly missing hummus, I was determined to figure out how to make the best garlic-free hummus.
TURKEY MEATBALLS
Spaghetti and meatballs are hearty, delicious and comforting. I've tinkered with this recipe over the years and think it's pretty perfect! The longer you simmer the sauce the richer and more delicious it will become. I hope you love this recipe as much as my family does.
STRAWBERRY SALSA
You never knew you needed strawberry salsa in your life until right now. While grilling chicken for some tacos I took stock of what we had on hand to make pico or salsa and wound up with Strawberry Salsa!
LET’S EAT PIZZA!
New York is known for its pizza. No other city in America can compare, I mean I’m biased but it’s true. Here are my favorite places for pizza in NY that are garlic-free and many have gluten-free options! You’ll have to avoid the generic dollar slice spots as they all use garlic powder in their sauce.
CHAMPAGNE VINAIGRETTE
We love salad in our house. I find a good dressing makes all the difference and this vinaigrette will make all of your salads even more delicious.
VEGGIE BOWL
I love a colorful bowl of mixed roasted and raw veggies for lunch, the contrast of colors, crunch and texture are what make this bowl so outstanding. This recipe is easy to make ahead of time and travels very well.
SABICH LITE™
I was craving the flavors of Israeli and concocted what turned out to be a dynamite sandwich, I’m coining Sabich Lite™ since it isn’t really a Sabich sandwich but gives the essence of one.
DIJON SOY SALMON
Sometimes recipes come to me, this dijon soy glazed salmon with Yuzu Kosho pickles will be in heavy rotation for a long time. If you’d never had Yuzu Kosho it a spicy, salty, citrusy Japanese condiment. It tastes good on everything!
DINING OUT WITH ALLERGIES
Often the hardest part about having a food allergy is how people react to it. Having food allergies can cause anxiety, isolation, and fear of dining out. People aren’t always empathetic to garlic allergies and don’t consider their responses when you tell them you’re allergic to garlic.
NEW YORK EATS
A few of my favorite New York restaurants, offering great customer service and garlic-free dishes.
QUARANTINE TIPS
It’s hard to stay zen while stuck inside. Everyday feels a little like groundhog’s day but our boredom or frustration is only temporary. Staying home keeps us safe from COVID-19 and allows for the first responders to care for those that are sick. To break up the days we’ve found new activities to keep us entertained.
SAM'S CRISPY LABNEH POTATOES
This potato recipe has become a go-to in our home and I often bring it to dinner parties. It’s delicious, travels well, and is a crowd-pleaser. The potatoes are crispy and creamy in contrast to the rich labneh and spice from the Aleppo pepper.
LIME & HONEY SALMON
This recipe is simple and delicious, I don’t have real measurements because I seasoned on the fly - use your best judgment! The salmon has the right combo of sweet and salty paired with the bright and herby quinoa, even a picky eater will love it!
ROASTED CHICKEN WITH APRICOTS
This is one of my favorite roasted chicken recipes it was born out of researching various Moroccan chicken dishes and has now turned into my own. It’s warm, spiced and has a sweet heat paired with the caramelized apricots - each bite makes you want another.
PURÉED CARROT SOUP
🥕 We had a surplus of carrots and the idea of making soup came to mind. To be honest, I’ve been having cooking fatigue this week and wanted something easy to make.
AVOCADO, EGG AND CHEESE
The “thing” that makes this sandwich dynamite is Beth’s Farm Kitchen - Mighty Hot Pepper Jelly, it’s the perfect combination of sweet heat. It may sound odd to put this on an egg sandwich, or any sandwich for that matter, but it’s 100% the right move.
